marble coping?

GoofyYnoMay 26, 2011

I'm looking trying to create a old world look for my pool. I'm using a very thin coping around a rectangular pool, with grass (artificial) and square pavers. I really want a white marble look. Can I use a tumbled marble or is it not safe/good around the pool? I'm probably going to end up with either Marbella or travertine. if the marble can be used, is it a lot more expensive?

Tumbled marble could be pretty slippery. I would look at Limestone or Travertine instead...not honed...with a texture. There are some neat products out there like antique break Jerusalem Antique Limestone or Jurastone if you are looking for an old world look.

This might not be white enough. Just look around it is out there

Here is a link that might be useful: almost white travertine

Afyon White from MasterTile (now Crossville) is a nice white marble. Tumbled, not too slippery.

I think I'm going to go with the whitest travertine that comes in. with the rows of square stepping stones I'm using the PB thinks the marble will chip at the corners too easily. same for Marbella (in fact the sample he had was a little frayed on one corner.

Wow, that sounds like a beautiful pool!!! Do you have any pictures of the finished product? I'd love to do something along those lines, but it's hard to find old world pools like that.

Thank You!
