Outdoor Deck fan?

blakeasJune 12, 2007

I am looking for a fan for us to use on our deck. Our deck spans the whole back of the house, does not have a covering so it gets quite hot her in atlanta, ga in the summertime. I have seen those fan that you attach to house and oscillates . But I cant seem to find them when I search. Do these exist?

You can't really use them in a "wet" location.

You can find heavy duty pedestal mounted fans that oscillate. It would have to be moved out of the weather.
I've never seen a fan that was meant to be left out in the rain.

I was thinking of a heavy duty one to mount on the underside of my outside overhang of the lowest part of my roof in the corner(as pictured below) so it will be shielded by the rain but still outside.

any suggestions?

Google "Regalia Pedestal Patio Fan"

It is basicly a ceiling fan on a pole, and looks like it would work well. I have also seen at Costco a tower fan designed for decks/patios that also has a light in it.

Another portable option is the "Holmes Outdoor Patio Fan"
This looks very nice, it is an oscillating fan, and also available with a mister to help cool down even more. This one is available at Amazon and Linens and Things.

The answer is still no. Outside IS a wet location. All of outside is a wet location. Anything you put there will electrocute someone. If the aim is to get rid of a family member, go ahead. Shouldn't be too long after it's installed.

The do make outdoor fans with a "wet" rating. Some outdoor fans are not rated "wet".

They do make fans that you can put on a covered porch. I put one in my brothers' house. They do not make a fan you can put in the location the poster wants.
