Fact or fiction?

Hi there,

I understand that multiple factors affect pool prices but does the time of year that you decide to build make much of a difference? I occasionally hear that it's cheaper to build in the winter months when PB's might not be as busy.

Im sure opinions will differ, and so will circumstances in each instance, but we shopped Summer 5 quotes, and 5 quotes Winter, and Winter was 2k cheaper for the same pool.

I remember hearing rumors about getting better prices in fall/winter but once I started getting quotes last summer and doing some research I found that it pool builders are generally busy year round and the price isn't going to change much. I got several quotes and they were all pretty much in the price range. In the end I asked the PB I chose to come down about $2500 on their quote and they agreed as long as I agreed to start the build in the fall of 2011 instead of spring 2012. I signed the contract and did a fall build. As goyom mentioned above you might be able to shave off a few thousand but I don't think you will get a significant reduction.

My prices do not drop for seasonal changes.

If I'm slow, I might be more prone to "make a deal" in the winter, but nothing set in stone as far as markups are concerned.
