Greeting card messages

grammypJuly 7, 2007

For the past several days DH and I have been getting "greeting card/post card" messages with subjects like "a worshiper has sent you a card" "from a family member" "from a classmate" several a day ... They were supposed to be from like BlueMountain, Hallmark, etc, but when DH opened one and the URL didn't match the company that supposidly sent the card. Has anyone else been getting these cards? Be very careful if you do.

Don't open the links if you get one of these. Here's what Snopes has to say about it.

Here is a link that might be useful: Postcard Hoax

Thanks for the information. I've been getting a lot of them, too. Clicked on one once, but did not click on the links that came up inside the message. According to my internet security software, I didn't get a virus, but I'm sure not going to bother to check the contents of any of those card notices again.

Yes, I got one of those too. I was suspicious when the email said that it was from my partner and since I knew that my DH was at a cottage with no computer at the time it was sent, I knew it couldn't be him.

If it is a real ecard from Hallmark or Blue Mountain, etc. it will have the email address of the person who sent it. I didn't open these because they said from a "friend, colleague, etc". Occasionally a virus will attack someone's email address book and send things out, but most often if it comes from someone you know it's okay. --Amy

I have been getting these too on all three of my email accounts.

I often wonder if spammers get annoyed when they get spam mail?

Thanks for the warning on these cards cause I just got one in my box too. It said it was sent from a classmate of mine. So continue to be watchful!

Now I've seen everything - I just got spammed that I had a greeting card from a "Worshiper"! I'm not even sure what that means - is it someone who workships me :-) That one might be worth getting an email virus! --Amy
