Trying to tie in old concrete patio with something new

bseltApril 23, 2013

We are expanding our stamped concrete patio in our yard. I've heard that it's nearly impossible to get a decent match with the color & stamp expecially since the patio is about 7 years old.
Is there any other kind of patio idea that would would tie in nicely? Being that they are right next to each other and both would be large, I have no idea if pavers or flat stone matches. Or if that would look like wearing a checkered shirt with polka dot pants.

I'd first talk to the person that will do the work. I believe stamped concrete can be refreshed and don't see why they can't recoat the first patio at the same time they put the final coat on the new patio.
I don't think matching the stamp will be an issue.

I think the old stamped pavers can be stained, or maybe if the new installed patio is done in a natural color, both can be stained the same color. I think you have more options than you know........ask. ;o)
