Can you change color when re-staining?

We just stained our cedar deck dark brown and now I'm wishing it was grey - is it possible to re-stain? Would that require sanding and then re-staining?

Depends on the brand and type of deck stain that you used. Was it a transparent, semi-trans or solid stain?

I think it was semi transparent - can a picture help you know?

Am interested in staining it possibly a grey or lighter brown.

What do you think? And if so, would I sand it first?

Strip neutralize then stain.
