Drip ledge under Apron Sink

quiltgirlMarch 5, 2013

Is there anyone here who has mounted their apron sink on a board with a drip edge versus scribing it into the cabinet? If so, are you happy with it both aesthetically as well as from a functional standpoint? Is it a pain to keep the area around it clean? I know scribing is the method of choice it seems, but if not scribed perfectly, it can be an eye sore. I do like the look like the picture below.

I agree it is beautiful. I preferred a scribed edge so I didn't do this. But there's no doubt it's gorgeous. It's also functional for some who splash for whatever reason. We have no splashing so it's not an issue for us.

It would definitely be another thing to dust regularly, but in this day of swiffers? easy.

I sorta did both with mine. Scribed in, then a drip edge was added to cover any gap:

Just left the cabinet maker tonight and this is what I'm doing for my sink. I'm worried about the finish holding up with splashing. I'd like to use the finish I have on my wood floors.
