spa water level drops

bhebertApril 16, 2011

Lately I've noticed that my spa water level drops to the level of the pool when the pump is not running. It is a slow gradual drop. I have a spa that is raised 6" above the level of the deck. The spa has a spillway that circulates into the pool when the pump is running

What could be causing this? I don't believe the water is leaking out because when the pump is running the water level raises back up to the level of the spillway and the water level in the pool seem to be holding steady.

I had the same issue and what caused mine was a bad check valve. It was not preventing the water from flowing backward in the piping. Unfortunately for me I had a overfill drain and it drained a couple hundred gallons of water every night. Since I have a automatic filler too it went unnoticed for some time.

Yes,
Check valve is probably the most common problem of this.
Water settles back to pool.
