sewer gas smell from laundry room sink

ianandmelDecember 19, 2013

We have had a sewer gas smell coming from our laundry room sink and now starting to notice low water levels in our toilet bowls. We are on well/septic and the weather here has been very cold with a lot of snow. My first guess is that a vent stack is stopped up with snow. But I want to make sure that something else more serious isn't going on. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Sounds like you have a leak in the sink trap or you are siphoning water out of the trap at the sink which compromises the water seal and allows sewer gases into the house. Do check your vent and check your trap for leaks
