Paver deck with Deco Seal or mastic??

socalsisterMarch 20, 2013

We have a pool deck recently remodeled with concrete interlocking pavers. Our hardscape contractor intends to use DecoSeal between the flagstone coping and the pavers. The pool is 25 years old. Clay soil in earthquake country.

The previous deck was concrete. We had used DecoSeal a dozen years ago--only lasted 2 years before it needed replacing. We replaced it with mastic (elastomeric caulk) which lasted 10 years.

Is DecoSeal the appropriate product to use with interlocking pavers or will it bleed around the bricks? Or should we use mastic again?
