Slippery Porch (what to do)

kruiseJanuary 30, 2011

The house I bought has a wooden porch that isn't covered yet the original owner doesn't seem to have treated the wood. With all the winter time rain the porch is VERY slippery. I think I'll replace it in the spring but what can I do right now so that no one slips and hurts themselves?

Thanks

If you can get it dry, you can put the stick-on abrasive sheets on the treads where you walk. They have a sandpaper like surface and are intended for just such a problem. Not very attractive, but if you plan to replace the porch surface anyhow, it is a cheap and effective solution.
