New pool questions

flbluepoolMarch 6, 2014

We are in the process of building a new pool. After speaking to a few different pool builders, we've decided to go with the one that has been well established in our area. Their price is very competitive and it includes features like pebble tec finish, salt system, brick paver deck.
We have a budget to stick with so there are a few things on the plate we have to decide on. We wanted a bigger pool so we're paying ~ $3500 to increase the pool size to 19'x34' (16,000 gals). We are going with the freeform lagoon pool so we're considering between a rock waterfall vs. rock grotto vs. rock coping w/rock planters. The PB also suggested a conversation bench with a granite table which will cost us aroung 1K. We wanted to have a beach entry which also incorporated a sunshelf together but the PB is very against the beach entry idea. He also said we will need to put in an auto fill if we were to do the beach entry to prevent to pump from dying out due to fast evaporation.
We are debating of what to cut and what to keep.
Any thoughts or opinions are much appreciated.

I would skip the beach entrance and go with the rock grotto, table and an auto fill. Auto fill in my opinion is one less thing you have to worry about on a weekly basis. If you go out of town you don't have to worry about a pump burning up because of evaporation. I would love to be able to sit in my pool at a table and drink a cold one. The rock grotto is somewhere during the summer you can get out of the sun.
