Granite and butcher block mix

dfbaldMarch 15, 2013

We are in the process of buying a newer home. The kitchen is in a U shape with an island. The counters are all granite. It is an eat in kitchen so there is a large area for a table and then behind the table is a blank wall. We are thinking of putting cabinets there for additional storage. Just wondering what your thoughts are on putting a butcher block counter there? We are trying to spend a minimal amount so I just don't think another piece of granite is in our budget. Any other countertop suggestions?

I think there are a lot of things you can do. Butcherblock is one of them. What will be perfect, depends on the style of the space, the style of the home, and your needs. You think you may need additional storage; that need can be addressed with a hutch, sideboard, or buffet as well as with cabinetry. I would move in and spend some time in the new house, time will tell you what will work for you.
