Odd size tub

jscozzAugust 7, 2010

I am looking to replace a cast iron tub in a small space. The tub is 51-1/4 (width tile to tile), and 30-1/8 (depth tile to front edge). I was hoping to find a Vikrell or similar drop in with a tile lip on it... but this seems to be a very hard size to find... and I don't have room to go to 60". Does anyone have any idea where I can find such a tub at a reasonable cost? My only other option is to convert the area to a stand up shower.

FYI, Under the probable mud job tile, the framing to framing RO is very (most) likely to be 54. That bit of info may help in your search; that's a 4'6" alcove tub.
The link is to a Kohler model of that dimension, and it's the same depth as you have as well.

Have you considered tub refinishing instead? Cast iron feels much more solid than a new, inexpensive tub.

Anyway, American Standard 54" MacKenzie is one.
