air tank bladder leaking

k_riderJuly 20, 2014

Installed a new pressure tank last year. Works like it should but has started to make noises that sounds like water is getting past the bladder..... With the tank holding pressure it would not leak and would still operate as normal. Just not contained in the bladder. How can you check to see if the bladder has ruptured....?

If the bladder has ruptured you'll get water out of the air valve.

That was my thought but with air still in the tank it would work as normal.I thought the bladder just seperates the water from the steel tank...?

The bladder separates the water from the air.

If you push on the air valve and get water the bladder has failed.

In order to set the tank pressure correctly you have to empty the tank of water and set the pressure static.
