life span-amazon parrot

malexiaOctober 1, 2009

A friend of mine has an amazon parrot that is approx. 32 years old. Recently she took "Bird" to a new Vet for some ongoing health issues; this new Vet said that Amazons in captivity rarely live past the age of thirty. I have always heard differently, please let me know of your experiences. Thanks, Marcia

Anywhere from 40 to 65 years DEPENDING on how well the bird is cared for....

Many Amazons in captivity don't live past that age due to their diet, housing and the stress they're subjected to. Ditto what mazer said.
