range hood advice

snetramMarch 20, 2013

We are currently remodeling our kitchen and would like to install a chimney style range hood that vents straight up through the roof. The problem is that we live in a cold climate and are concerned that the warm air rising up the vent will condense and cause the hood to drip on the range top. Does anyone have any advice on how we can avoid this problem? Our only option is to vent straight up or go with a recirculating hood that we feel will not do an adequate job.
Thank you

Insulating the ductwork should be standard procedure and will prevent your concerns from becoming reality.
