need some advice on console sink and supply lines location

southerngalinnycJune 29, 2010

Hi, thanks for help in advance. I've looked, but haven't really found a similar question and it may be that it is a. a blonde one, or b. the answer is so obvious that I should be embarrassed to ask it (which is really see also a.)

The photo below is the sink wall for our tiny guest bath

This is the type of sink I want to install my preference is the 31" wide option but I can squeeze in the 37" wide version...

I have a couple of questions regarding the supply lines.

They are currently approximately 9.5 and 10.5 inches to the right of the center of where the sink needs to be mounted and they are roughly 14 and 16 inches up from the floor. The drain is approximately 14 inches from the floor...

shouldn't they be higher and closer to the center.... if I leave the supply lines where they are then they will effectively be only 3 and 4 inches from the right edge of the console top...

I think they need to be moved asthetically, but am not sure what it will cost at this point( i think there are only 3 to 4 drywall screws involved to get that down now) but then there is the rest of it...

If we leave them in place should there be any problems with the water supply lines back to the sink if I order the flexible kind? Other than I really want them to be straight visually? It seems that the bottom of the "p trap will be mighty low to the floor.

of course my equivalent of Eldon in "murphy brown" says "its better for me if its lower...

my husband said (when I was looking at a vanity, we'll just cut the bottom drawer" and then finally... if you want to move it we will.

please let me know what you think...

The directions that comes with the sink should have the recommended locations for the pipes, if you leave them the way they are you are going to be pizzed off ever time you look at them, your choice, luck.
