Does this look right to you? New tub drain cover

SparklingWaterApril 6, 2012

Hi. My plumber installed this new hair catcher tub drain cover yesterday. Does this look right to you? Why is there a depressed rim in the cover for water to pool? Is it upside down? Won't my hard water pool even outside this new cover due to an uphill climb?

What do you think?

Thanks.

I can't see much in the thumbnail size of your picture, but it looks like a 25 cent hair strainer that is just pushed into the drain opening and can be easily pulled out for cleaning.

Maybe the cover is installed right, but it's the wrong drain cover choice. The tub water will pool in the recessed rim, not to mention that this unusual cover is concave by design when typically they are convex so water runs downhill, not tries to climb uphill. We have hard water here and my tub was just refinished. No sitting water allowed.

I didn't buy nor install this. I'm pulling it and installing my old hair catcher drain cover today.

Well, the installer just called to say the new drain pipe with new convex leaning and recessed 360 rim hair catcher (mixed up convex and concave in last post, sorry) won't "fit" my old concave hair catcher. Great.

Hair will still get by that drain cover. It will catch some of it, but it should be a screen...not small holes.

Thanks, Ozone. Sigh...

I wonder who makes that drain cover?
