Choosing a Gas Water heater

inhotMarch 25, 2014

Hi All,

I'm shopping for a new 50 gal tank gas water heater. 6, 9 or 12 year? is it worth the extra money to get the supposedly longer life? Rheem, whirlpool or GE? Any specific models within these categories? If anyone has opinions please share.

My personal opinion is that they will all last 12-15 years and will be limed up by the end of that period regardless of brand or warranty.

I am a proponent of gas tankless - so I always toss that out there as something to look at.
