All metal faucets Stainless vs. brass

lucas_tx_gwMarch 2, 2013

With regard to a kitchen faucet, I know the recommendation is to get all metal and ceramic discs but the recommended metal seems to be brass.

There is a brand of faucets (Rugby) that is sold by several reliable local Hardware/Plumbing supply places in the Dallas area that is solid stainless steel (no plastic).

Is there a reason brass is the preferred metal or would stainless be good as well?

Stainless is fine, it often is more expensive than brass though.

Thanks. These seem to have a good reputation though not widely known and are reasonable in price.

Just a heads up from a person who works with stainless. 1 there are grades of stainless and note the less part not proof. 2 threads of stainless on stainless will gaul use lube whenever threading together. What to me is normal might be nightmare for DIY.

" threads of stainless on stainless will gaul "

Not nearly as much if you use different types of stainless fr the two pieces.

The body is likely to be cast, internal parts turned.

Thanks for the heads up. I did order the faucet today, so I'll provide some updates after I get it.
