What Water Heater should I Buy

hookoodookuMarch 17, 2013

I'm looking to replace an old water heater without spending too much money.

I'm figuring the cheapest (yet safe) way to accomplish this is to buy local (no shipping charges - I live in the Birmingham, AL area) and install the water heater myself. I'll make the water connections (I'm experienced at copper sweating) and pay my HVAC guy (certified gas fitter) to connect up the nature gas lines when he comes to do a seasonal inspection of the HVAC system.

Does anyone have any recommendations on what water heater to buy. I need it to be natural gas, 50 gallons, with FVIR rating.
