I am looking at water softeners and am one of those people that like to understand how everything works.
I think I have water softeners figured out except one point. During the recharge cycle how does the water from the brine tank get moved into the resin tank? Do they have an active pump to do this? As far as I can tell there is only one pipe going from the brine tank to the resin tank by which the brine solution is moved into the resin tank during recharge and fresh water is moved into the brine tank to make new brine. How does this function?
