Bathroom Fixtures - SAE or Metric?

j969kFebruary 3, 2012

Hi,

Long time lurker. Decided to add a floor to my existing house. Many thanks for the good posts in helping to make decisions.

In the bathrooms, we have mainly Kohler and Toto - all within the past 2 years. We also have some yet to replace Moen and American Standard - range of years.

For the hex key / allen wrenches and nut sizes on these fixtures, do they all follow a single standard - SAE vice metric? Or is it going to depend on the specific fixture?

Thanks!

In the USA to receive code approval they must by SAE, but that does not mean to say that some homeowners don't buy off the internet from overseas, then makeshift rig the fixture in place....LOL
