how difficult to change litter pan from uncovered to covered?

susie100June 14, 2009

Hi, all, I would like to change my cat litter pan from an uncovered one to a covered one and wondered how difficult it would be to accustom the cat to use it. How should I go about it? Thank you.

Save a bit of the old litter, add it to the new pan, put it in the same place. Cats often like cubby places to explore so unless your cat is different in that respect.

When I switched to covered litter pans, I used them without the cover first, to let the cats get used to them. After about two weeks, I put the covers on and the cats had no problems with using them.
