Is this boiler any good?

rnovotnyJanuary 27, 2011

My old oil fired hot water boiler is failing rapidly, of course in the middle of the worst winter here in New York in recent memory. I found a new Burnham RSA-85 steel boiler (less oil burner) for $600. This sounds awfully cheap. Anyone familiar with that brand and model? It uses a Beckett AFG burner, which I would swap off my old boiler (replaced that only last year).

I know cast iron last longer than steel, but this is an emergency, I'm strapped for cash right now, and I'll only be living in my house for another 3 years. I just don't want to install a piece of junk.
