Help! Quick! Swiss Coffee? Bright White? Buying today!

creekylisMarch 5, 2011

Hi, All!

I need to decide on a paint color TODAY for my half bath trim, which will ultimately be the trim color throughout my house. I have looked over every shade of white known to man and I am still confused.

I want WHITE trim. However, I have used Ultra Bright White in a previous house and in my kitchen and office here, and I can't help thinking it is just TOO white, especially in constrast to the generally warm tones that I decorate with. I also have dark red paint in the kitchen and medium olive green in the office. I will be painting much of my main floor walls with Behr Cream Puff, a light cream color. I will be painting the walls in the half bath with Behr Fortune Cookie, a sort of dirty goldish tan.

For those who have used Swiss Coffee on your trim---will I be satisfied that this is WHITE trim once it is up? I am thinking maybe I should go with this to tone down the brightness, but I really do still want WHITE trim, not OFF WHITE or BONE or ANTIQUE WHITE or BISQUIT etc...

Can anyone help me today? TIA!

We used Behr Pot of Cream and it's a soft creamy WHITE. I just love it and doubt I'll ever use anything else in a house I live in. I've even used it on furniture and it's perfection.

I did Swiss Coffee in my last house for the trim and I loved it. It's still a very bright white. I think you will like it.

I have Swiss Coffee throughout my home. It definitely appears white against the soft taupes and tans of my walls and even in the bathroom that is tiled in white.

Thanks for your responses! I went with Valspar Swiss Coffee from Lowe's, which is slightly less off-white than some of the other SC paint chips I had picked up. It was so confusing, I just finally went for it. I am VERY PLEASED.

Thanks again!

Hi Creekylis,

I think Swiss Coffee Behr is more creamy than white.
At least in my lighting it is.
Here are some visuals of whites maybe they can
help you.

I have Swiss Coffee Behr trim thoughtout my house. It was recommended by my GC and I am very happy with it. It is a nice warm white, very clean looking, not so stark as a bright white. I have vinyl windows with white trim and it goes well with that. When I purchased white wood blinds for several rooms I was able to match the blinds to the trim. It gives it a cohesive look.
