Which lens for what?
I'm new at DSLRs and the lenses that go with them. I thought it might be fun for everyone to tell which of their lenses they feel are best to photograph what.
I have to say I was somewhat disappointed with a 70-300mm 1:4.5 - 5.6 because it didn't bring me as "up close" as I thought it would to photograph birds. The brown thrasher I posted this past week was shot at about 15 feet. I was hoping to get a shot like that at three times the distance. Lesson learned....try out a lens before you buy it. :)
I like the 50mm 1.8 for everything...I haven't done portraits, but I think it's killer for that. It will do lower lighted subjects and I love it's crisp results. It's light weight and easy to carry around.
60 mm 1:1/8 is awesome for macro
