First 2007 Hollyhocks

First Hollyhocks this year. I really like these deep red flowers.

A little to much glare and shadow.

Yeah, bright sun isn't the best lighting for flowers--or most other things. But they're beautiful. I like the deep colors, too. Unfortunately, the only hollyhocks in my garden that weren't eaten by deer are a color somewhere between white and pale yellow. I don't want to insult them, but I'd prefer something identifiable.

Those are pretty...
The leaves on mine weren't as nice and full as the 1st year of full bloom....They flowers look like your color, though...I like taking pics of them when the sun is lower and shining indirectly on them...

I love Hollyhocks, they bring back fond memories of my grandmother's place. She always had lots of Hollyhocks and Poppies. We brought these with us when we moved here 3 years ago and plan to add more colors this year.
