The Herons seem to in be greater numbers around NW PA.
Maybe its a sign that the water in Lake Erie is cleaner. Maybe its cyclical. At any rate, I like seeing them. I took this photo last week at Presque Isle SP
When I lived in WA state, there was Weyerhauser land behind our property. Sometimes, we'd hike back there, and on the ground under the trees in one grove of very tall trees that had the limbs trimmed to about 20 feet up we saw crawdad shells etc. Looked up, and there waaaaaay up in the trees were heron nests. It was pretty cool.
