just_jesssFebruary 24, 2014

Hello everyone im new here and building my first home.

We have chosed super white quartzite for our kitchen benchrops amd recieved a sample in the mail. I am concerened as I simply ran a steak knife over it and it scratched same with a pearing knife. I dont know if the stone is in its finished state that I recieved. The top was shiny but the sides and back matte and un polished.

Thoughts??? Is this a bad choice ? Does urs scratch?

Appreciate all ur help

All stone, estone, plastic laminate, and solid surface manufacturers recommend the use of trivets for cutting and protection from heat damage.

There have been many threads about Superwhite. It is not a quartzite and is commonly mislabeled at most stone yards. It behaves more like a marble. I don't have a link at the moment, but you can search it.
