Give these birds a modeling contract

lazypupMarch 7, 2010

The American Goldfinch undergoes a very dramatic color change from summer to winter. In summer the males are bright yellow with black wings, commonly called "wild canaries". In winter the males change to a subdued brown color.

On January 14/2010 I took a picture of a pair of Goldfinches in winter plumage on the Nyger Seed feeder.

On March 6 I noticed that they are starting to molt and transition to the summer plumage. I thought it would be interesting to get a shot during the transition and hopefully a month or so from now I could get a third shot showing the complete change.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would get the exact same pose for the second shot.

Maybe I should give them a modeling contract, they certainly work cheap enough...LOL
