Can you explain how these phenomenon can happen?
That's a interesting photo. The top picture looks like it maybe a rainbow. Looks like an arch going up and to the left.
Good pictures. I think these are called Sun Dogs. We see them down this way once in a while, too. I don't know how to send a link to a web site, but just type 'sun dogs' into your browser and you will get explanations of them.
Yep! Thats a sundog. Rare phenomenon. Great capture!
Thank you all! ...have found some on the web!
I never seen this before, and nice to know, it actually has a name!
Here is another pic.
and I always thought this is Konrad's Son Dog, Sundog.
Love the "Sun dog".That is so funny. Another name for it is parhelion.
Man...have you got ideas!..now we have 2 sundogs! LOL
Ideas! or a screw lose. Jury is still out on that one.
Konrad, I just learned about sundogs not long ago...
See-I have learned...Now to see that pic of Eric's version could confuse me...LOL
Hi Gmom and Doris!
up here in the frozen northland (Minnesota) we see sundogs when it gets very cold, as in well below zero. I understood that they were caused by ice crystals in the air.
