Paint ceiling

AlliegatoDecember 28, 2010

Hello, I'm looking for some advice on ceiling paint. My living room walls are BM Rush and my ceiling is an off white. I am thinking of painting the ceiling the same color as the walls, maybe lightened 50%. I am hoping to make the ceilings look taller but am worried the room might feel too boxed in. I attached a link so you can see how the room looks currently. Any suggestions?

I'd paint that ceiling the same color as the walls - Hush is a really pretty color, btw.

If it felt boxed in, I'd be really surprised. In this room, I think the effect will be the exact opposite. My guess is Hush on the ceiling and walls will bring a sense of cohesiveness and continuity. Which could result in your perceiving a higher ceiling.

Eliminating the line of contrast at the ceiling - even tho it is very slight - is how it's going to deliver that perception of a higher ceiling.

Love the pops of orange and turquoise - very cool.

I painted one of my bedrooms BM Hush and the ceiling also an Affinity color called Constellation. It's a hint of blue. I've used it with several colors throughout the house.
