If you add 25% colorants?

saydeOctober 7, 2010

I have narrowed down to Barbados Sand -- a light base color, and am trying to get a color that looks right with tile. The Barbados Sand uses oxide yellow, black and oxide orange. If I ask to have the colorants increased 25% will this be a very noticeable change? For example is a 25% increase about halfway to the next color down on the card?

Yes...I'll sometimes tint colors @ 125%, IF the base will handle the extra colorant, and still leave shaking-room in the can.
* Fill-levels vary for light tint-bases. Make sure the total formula is within tolerances for that base.
* The "25%" step will be noticeable, but only slightly. This is kind of an arbitrary description anyway.
