Am I on the right track?

bredeSeptember 25, 2010

I've read many old posts by searching the forum, but would like to confirm that I've got everything correct.

We have removed a wallpaper border in a room. The border was applied over a satin latex paint and came off very easily. We have washed the walls with a TSP solution and then rinsed. There is no damage to the walls, other than a few nail holes.

The next few steps I think I need to do are:

- scuff sand walls, then remove any sanding dust

- apply one coat of Gardz primer; I am using the Gardz because of its ability to seal in any residual glue/paste from the border

- spackle any nail holes

- paint

Am I correct in thinking that I don't need to apply another primer after the Gardz? I was going to apply it over all the walls (not just the border area).

Thank you for any help!

It sounds good, except for that you should do all your patching before applying the Gardz. Gardz is also a fine primer so priming over the patches will seal them so that your topcoat will not soak in over the patches at a different rate.
