Painting luan doors - need advice

rosesr4meSeptember 3, 2012

I am updating my parent's 1952 concrete ranch. The interior wall and trim has been painted and now I see the need to do something with the "golden oak" stained hollow luan doors. I would like to paint them matching the trim - SW Snowbound. Any special trick to painting these kind of doors? Roller, brush or both? Any particular paint? Thanks in advance.

If you used a flat or matte finish on the walls, I would suggest using a semi-gloss on the doors. When I did a project like this, I took the door off its hinges, removed the door knobs, laid it flat, primed and then painted. I used a brush.

Thank you! My initial idea was to roll then immediately brush. Sounds like nothing special needs to be done.
