Is there a difference between drywall primer and plaster primer? I've got extra BM plaster primer and I have a new drywall wall that needs priming. Should I use my leftover plaster primer on the drywall?
What is the exact product?Probably, yes, it will actually tell you this on the side of the can.
Read the label
probably, christophern, it didn't tell me on the side of the can. That's why I came here and asked. Stupid move on my part, eh?
No need for the smart remark. If it is a quality primer it will tell you what it is made to prime. If you got it at HD or Lowes, I cannot help you
If it's primer for REAL plaster, it's usually tolerant of plasters' higher ph. It should be fine on sheetrock though.
What exact BM primer-series is it?
The label doesn't tell you? Hmmm. Very suspect. There should be no problem using a plaster primer on drywall, it's just the reverse that might not be OK.
I'd still like to see that label though.
