Missed a step-sanding-in prep work

melygAugust 20, 2010

After finding this forum, I've found the walls should have been sanded prior to fixing cracks and (many) dings. They were previously painted with semi-gloss laytex.

Can I sand now or is it too late? And here I was giving myself a pat on the back for repairing these dang holes so nicely. That'll teach me to gloat!

Thanks all for any advice!

It's really never too late to sand when it comes to wall painting. I usually don't sand before patching or repairing cracks because I have to sand after patching anyway, so I figure it makes more sense to do the sanding once.

Thanks so much!

Glad to hear I didn't mess it up before I really got started.
