Soft paws good or bad?

I'm thinking of using soft paws on my two cats, what do people on here think about them?

It's painless and prevents cats from scratching people, drapes, and furniture. These are reasons that people declaw their cats. I see absolutely nothing wrong with them- it prevents declawing or worse.
