Painting living/dining, different colors on different walls?

claudialina10August 31, 2010

I'm thinking of using 2 different colors in my open space living/dining room to add some depth, visual interest. Has anyone done this? Any tricks for how to make decisions on where to put lighter v. darker color?

Good day from my experience most people would pick 1 wall to be an accent wall, normally this would be the darker of the 2 colors, while the other 3 are the 2nd color. As for which wall will be the darker color a lot depends what is going on or along that wall.

I have more than 2 in my great room, all very pale shades: two colors are on structural elements of the soffit and the stucco of the fireplace - they make intersecting planes of color.

Three more colors are on the walls, with the changes happening at the corners. It's very subtle color planes.
