Should I paint my hollow doors and trim??

MrsShayneAugust 21, 2012

I recently updated my kitchen by painting the oak cabinets. Now that the kitchen is done, I can't help but dream about white or something close for my trim and doors.

Would you paint the trim and doors?

If so, what do you recommend? I used CabinetCoat and BM's Advanced paint on my kitchen cabinets and both worked great.

Can I paint my doors (they are hollow)? Is sanding required? Do they have to be removed to paint?

Also, I dont think I'd paint the staircase or french doors off the front door.

Suggestions?? Thank you!!!

If those are hollow doors someone did a cadillac job of staining them.
Do not sand them if they're masonite embossed to look like wood. prime & paint.

My doors and trim are/were about the exact same color. The floor molding was changed out when we had new tile installed so we now have the 5" white molding. I did most of the painting myself. I'm still working on the door trim molding and i think it looks great (the color, maybe not the workmanship-because I painted it myself and got a bit sloppy)

The doors are remaining the same. It gives it a really nice contrast. Plus the doors would be a real pain to do.
