Help using SW Deckscapes

amav31July 7, 2011

On my deck I have very old weathered semi transparent brown color stained wood for flooring and 2 yr weathered pressure treated wood(clear oil stain) for steps and banister.

I want to stain them even color red using Deckscapes. I am getting conflicting advice as to weather I should use SW Deck Wash or SW Stain and Sealer remover BEFORE applying the latex based Solid color Deckscape stain. My question

1. Can I just clean the deck thoroughly and apply stain or Do I need to remove the previous stains(could be oil or water)

I was told no primer is needed. Has any one used this product. Please advice.

Thanks in advance for the input.

One more thing I forgot to mention. I was also told by SW paint store guy that I need to clean with SW Revive after I clean with SW Stain and Sealant remover and then apply the solid stain. I am trying to get away with one step cleaning process and also save money. Is there any other product out there to just clean the deck and then use SW stain. Thanks
