Concrete front porch-Stain or Paint?

mooieJuly 5, 2009

My 50's style ranch home has a concrete front porch which is/was pink. It has faded down to dusty pink now. I'm sure it went nicely with the pink aluminum siding, which no longer exists. (Thank goodness!) I first thought it was a slab of pink stone like that used around the fireplace but my construction guy says no, that's concrete that's been dyed. Oh. Didn't know they did that back then. At any rate, it needs changing. I didn't know if I should paint it with some heavy duty porch paint or try to stain it. I wondered if the pink color would muddy up anything I tried to stain it. Hope you can help advise. Thanks!

Teresa

Porch stains are semi-transparent, so that pink will certainly telegraph through the stain and effect the color.
