Spot Sanding Satin Impervo on Kitchen Cabinets...

jerry_in_oc_mdJuly 28, 2010

I'm in the process of painting my kitchen cabinets with BM Satin Impervo Alkyd (Bittersweet Chocolate) paint and I've got a couple of spots where I can see drips (and a tiny fingerprint), etc. Once the paint cures would it be OK to lightly sand and retouch these spots, or will the paint just gum up as I try to sand? I guess i can live with the slight imperfections, but I'd rather fix them if possible. Advice appreciated.

The alkyd can certainly be spot sanded and re-painted. In my opinion, that's the beauty of oil paint.

You can sometimes use a fresh razor blade to carefully shave off drips and runs. The paint needs to be cured for it to work, but same goes for sanding it down.
