pine bleeding through

hogan_njJune 17, 2010

I painted a new fence panel I made from pine. I used bullseye to prime it then a good quality ($50 a gallon) Ben Morre exterior acrylic paint. It sat in the basement for a few days after I assembled and painted.

I mounted the fence on sat. june 12 and today I noticed some sap bleed through the knots of the wood.

What should I do,I think if i give it another coat it will happen again. Besides the primer,it has 2 coats of paint.

You need to use BIN for this type of stain. Latex primers will not work for knots.

So now what? Do I have to remove the paint down to bare wood and use BIN then repaint? What would I use to remove the 2 coats of paint?

There is no need to go back down to raw wood. Just use the BIN over the knots and the paint now.

Try a primer for Porter Paints. Go down and talk to them. I have a cypress fence I had to prime/paint. They hooked me and not bleeding.
