Shutters

JadedBaronessJune 24, 2013

I don't think this is in the right forum but I also don't know where else to put it. We are purchasing a new home and don't like the color of the shutters and front door. The shutters are vinyl, so I assume they need to be replaced with ones the color we like instead of painted. While the front door would be painted to match? Is this correct?

This might seem like a silly question but where does one buy shutters and who is the appropriate contractor to install them?

Some shutters can be painted. I would just look for new ones at the big box stores. I would try a carpenter contractor, handyman, general contractor, siding contractor or a contractor that specializes in window and door installations for people that may be interested in installing them.

Around here, people tend to paint their doors a different color. It seems to be a regional thing. Look around the neighborhood and decide if you want to be different or not. But it won't be "incorrect" or look bad if you've got a good color scheme going.

Around here, people ignore the "color scheme" thing and paint the front door outrageous colors(IMO). I am not sure eggplant purple goes with anything :)
