Marble window sills -can they be painted? Quick reply needed

tlanganMay 21, 2007

Help me please!! I am building a very contemporary home and the builder wants to put in marble window sills -- the traditional looking ones. I am either going to have just dry wall or try to paint the marble. Does anyone know if the marble can be painted and if so how to do it and what materials to use? I need a quick answer since they are at the drywall stage and I need to let them know how to finish the sills. Thanks.

Yes, they can be painted, but why would you want to? Most people would consider marble a very desirable amenity.

No! Don't do it--marble can look very modern, and the paint will always look tacky.

Just make sure they use a modern looking marble. White or black comes to mind.
