TSP application with steel wool - feasible?

llokkiiMay 13, 2012

We're planning to re-paint kitchen cabinets (going fro black to yellow) and have read lots of good advice. I'm wondering if we can use steel wool (not sure how fine a grade) to apply the TSP solution. We could clean and cut some of the gloss at the same time. We're planning to use a primer but not sand; then 2 coats of paint.

Use a 3M scrubbie pad, not steel wool. The scrubbies last longer, steel wool disintegrates and leaves steel shards everywhere, which then rust.

2x on rust, if you still want metal pad look at bronze wool pads.

Why? It seems like a real pain. Just steel wool them off and then clean them with TSP using a sponge.
