interior woodwork...

arizonaroseApril 30, 2011

We are having the interior painted with SW and the painter told us when selecting a color the top colors on the chart strips usually just look white on the walls. We want to do a contrast color on the pop outs on the walls and the doors and baseboards. If we pick the # 3 color which is called utterly beige and drop down to the # 5 color for the contrast do you think the woodwork will appear too dark? The painter suggested dropping down 2 colors for the contrast. Right now everything is white and I am sooo tired of white, but don't want too pick something too dark. He said if we only drop down one color for contrast it will appear almost the same as the walls. This is confusing, any opinions would be appreciated.

Get some samples and put them on and look. It's only paint.

I realize it's only paint, but I was asking for opinions from people here that are experienced with coordinating colors. I do intend to get some samples though as was already suggested by our painter.
